DTV Converter Installation

This is my installation of an Artec T3AP DTV converter in our 2006 Great West Sprinter Legend. Output to the existing LCD TV is via the RF output connection (AKA Ch.3), which also offers a pass-through capability when the converter is powered off.

I had to disassemble the converter in order to mount it. I drilled 2 holes through the top cover of the converter and attached it to the bottom of the TV with 2 screws. I then re-assembled the converter to the cover. Power for the converter is derived from a tap attached to the existing 12 volt line going into the LCD TV.

Reception is actually better with the converter. In fact, I receive all of the DTV signals within my viewing area without the need to crank up the antenna. With the antenna cranked up and pointed in the appropriate direction, I receive 2 additional DTV stations that are considered outside my viewing area: the 3 digital channels of WTVG Ch.13, 82 miles to the south in Toledo, OH, and the 2 digital channels of WFUM Ch.28, 40 miles to the northwest in Flint, MI.

All in all, I receive 10 DTV stations providing a total of 20 DTV channels.
