The front porch of the main house in 1949 Date: 02/21/08 On the stairs of the front porch are Hattie and Ishmael Jacobs, with their 2 young sons, Ishmael Jr. and Gene.

The Jacob's family lived in the caretakers residence behind the main house from 1944 until the late 1950's, when the Adler sibblings sold the farm.

That's Irene Adler sitting in the chair on the porch.
Rear of main house (northwest corner) Date: 02/21/08 Gordon H. Adler is seen walking towards the house in this picture. Note the steer grazing across the road from the house. The Adlers leased 100 acres from the Newberry estate for their herd of steer.

The large sugar maple tree in front of the house is still standing. The smaller sugar maple to the right also grew to be quite large. Unfortunately, a heavy wind brought it down in 2007.
The boys of the farm! Date: 02/21/08 From left to right: Pudge Adler, Ishmael Jacobs Jr., Gene Jacobs and Kenneth Adler.
The pond in the 1940's Date: 02/21/08 The large tree seen at the left and the apple trees in the center of the picture are still there today.
The pond in 2010 Date: 06/20/10 The pond in 2010, viewed from the same approximate vantage point as the previous photo. Trees prevented me from taking this shot from the exact location used by the 1940's photographer.
Another shot of the pond taken during the 1940's Date: 02/21/08 Note that the foundation of an old building is visible.
Closeup of foundation Date: 02/21/08 There appears to be some netting over the foundation, supported by vertical rods. This arrangement may have been used to house a pair of silver and a pair golden pheasants that the Adlers were known to have.
Kenneth Adler Date: 03/23/08 Ken at home on leave from the Navy during WWII. Ken was a Navy Seabee.
Rear of house (again) Date: 03/23/08 Another view of the back of the house. Photo taken in 1948 or 1949.
The barn Date: 03/23/08 Sitting on the fence are Ishmael Jr. and Gene Jacobs. Photo taken sometime in the late 1940's, probably '48 or '49
Caretakers residence Date: 03/23/08 The Adler family actually lived in Grosse Pointe, so they were only part-time residents of the farm. During their absence, a caretaker maintained the farm. Later on, after Ken and Pudge had grown and left the nest, the Adler's moved to Huntington Woods to be closer to the farm.
The view across the road Date: 03/23/08 The land across the street (south side of E. Predmore Rd.). Photo taken in the 1940's.

With all of the trees that have grown to maturity since this photo was taken, it certainly looks much different today.
G.H. Adler at the Jacobs house Date: 03/23/08 Gordon Adler talking with Hattie Jacobs and her son Gene. This photo was probably taken in 1949.
Mowing hay Date: 03/23/08 Mowing hay in the northwest field. This picture was taken sometime during the 1940's.
